About our District

Garden City is a community of approximately 22,500* people. It is located twenty miles east of Manhattan in the heart of Nassau County, Long Island, in a suburban setting that includes estates, single-family dwellings, condominiums, and businesses. According to niche.com, 95% of residents are home owners. Garden City is an Incorporated Village, nearly coterminous with the school district. The majority of the adult population is comprised of college graduates engaged in business and professional careers. Approximately 66%* of this population possesses a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Close to 3,900 students attend Garden City Public Schools in grades kindergarten through 12. There are three primary schools (grades K and 1), two elementary schools (grades 2-5), one middle school (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12).

All eligible schools have been named by the U.S. Department of Education as Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.

Garden City High School offers a rigorous curriculum of Advanced Placement and Honors courses.
