Garden City fifth graders complete service-learning project
Stratford School's fifth grade students recently finished a service-learning initiative, reflecting their commitment to helping others and building community.
As part of their initiative, students organized a donation drive to support the Birthday-in-a-Box program, which provides birthday celebrations for children living in shelters. They collected and donated a variety of party essentials—including decorations, cake mix and candles—to help ensure every child can feel special on their birthday, regardless of their circumstances.
Through this project, students developed a deeper understanding of empathy, community needs and the power of giving back while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
