Stratford Avenue School launches student-led Kindness Crew

Stratford Avenue School in Garden City is excited to launch its new Kindness Crew, a student-led initiative created by fourth graders Ela Saka and Maria Quatro.
Ela and Maria visited classrooms to invite their peers to the group’s first meeting on Oct. 20, during which approximately 40 fourth graders gathered in the Innovation Lab to brainstorm meaningful ways to spread kindness and make Stratford an even more welcoming place.
The Kindness Crew gives students an opportunity to collaborate, share ideas and take an active role in building a positive and inclusive school community. The group’s first projects will include creating “Random Acts of Kindness” bingo boards and appreciation posters to recognize Stratford’s staff.
"We started the Kindness Crew so everyone could feel like a hero. Their superpower is being kind,” said Maria.
“Being kind doesn't only mean giving someone a compliment. Having someone's back is what really counts,” said Ella.
The Kindness Crew plans to meet monthly throughout the school year. Stratford looks forward to seeing these student leaders inspire kindness and make a positive impact across the school community.
