Garden City welcomes students back for a new year of learning and growth

The halls and classrooms of Garden City Public Schools were once again filled with excitement on Sept. 1 as students and staff returned for the 2026–2027 school year. From welcoming familiar faces to beginning new academic journeys, the first day marked the start of another year of learning, connection and growth across the district.
Garden City continues to build on its commitment to providing students with engaging learning experiences and supportive environments. Students and staff are beginning to make use of new and enhanced spaces across the district, including newly completed athletic fields, classrooms and other facility improvements. These additions, along with continued programs and initiatives, are designed to strengthen the educational experience and provide students with spaces that support learning, collaboration and growth.
“Today is always a special day in our schools as we welcome our students back and begin a new year together,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kusum Sinha. “There is so much to look forward to, and I am excited to see our students learn, grow and make new memories throughout the year. I wish all our students, families and staff a wonderful 2026–2027 school year.”
With a new year ahead, Garden City looks forward to the opportunities, accomplishments and experiences that await its students and staff. The district wishes everyone a successful and inspiring start to the 2026–2027 school year.
