Garden City High School celebrates class of 2026 at Senior Scholarship Awards Ceremony

On June 4, Garden City High School hosted its annual Senior Scholarship Awards Ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments and achievements of the Class of 2026.
The evening began with remarks from Principal Kevin Steingruebner, who congratulated the graduating seniors on their hard work and success. He also thanked the teachers, staff and families whose encouragement and support have helped guide students throughout their educational journeys and expressed his excitement for all that the Class of 2026 will accomplish in the years ahead.
Throughout the ceremony, more than 150 students were recognized through 51 scholarships, awards and honors. Presented by school organizations, community groups, local businesses and generous donors, the awards celebrated excellence in academics, leadership, service, the arts and extracurricular involvement. Honors included the Art Supervisors Association Scholarship, Garden City Administrators Association Scholarship, American Legion Auxiliary Award for Excellence in Social Studies, Garden City Friends of Music Scholarship, Garden City Teachers Association Scholarship and numerous memorial scholarships.
Among the evening’s highlights, senior Alessandra Bonomi was awarded the prestigious Julia Maloney Scholarship, which will provide $20,000 over the course of her four years of college. As the scholarship recipient, Bonomi will also have the honor of reading her winning essay at the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony.
The awards ceremony served as a meaningful celebration of the outstanding achievements and contributions of Garden City High School’s graduating seniors as they prepare to begin the next chapter of their lives.
