Garden City High School hosts 30th annual Intramural Quiz Bowl

On Feb. 10, Garden City High School held its 30th annual Intramural Quiz Bowl. Organized and hosted by social studies teacher Kevin O’Hagan, the event brings together three teams, each consisting of one teacher and three students, to compete in a fast-paced trivia challenge. The competition includes three rounds — preliminary, semifinal and final — with teams answering a total of 150 questions across two 75-question halves, covering science, math, history, literature and vocabulary.
This year’s Quiz Bowl was extra special as past winners were invited to attend in honor of the competition’s 30th anniversary. The teams demonstrated quick thinking, teamwork and strategy as they tackled questions from across the curriculum, highlighting both academic knowledge and friendly rivalry.
For the second consecutive year, the team of students Everett Lehnert, James Martin, Andrew Byrnes and teacher Scott McAuley emerged victorious, earning the title of 2026 Intramural Quiz Bowl Champions. Their names will be engraved on the Garden City High School Intramural Quiz Bowl champions plaque, ensuring their accomplishment is remembered for years to come.
