On Nov. 10, Garden City’s Homestead School honored the service of parents and grandparents of current students who have served in the military with a special ceremony.

The Homestead community gathered in the multipurpose room as Mr. O’Brien, a U.S. Army captain and parent, led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Mrs. O’Brien, singer and performer, who led the national anthem. Veterans from Homestead families joined in alongside the school’s students, teachers and staff.

“We are honored that our veteran family members joined us and we are so grateful for their service,” said Dr. Suzanne Viscovich, principal of Homestead School. “We are also grateful for kindergarten teacher Mrs. Welch, who spearheads this assembly each year.”
