Call to Join the District's Gifted Learning Advisory Committee

Community Outreach: Call to join the Garden City Public Schools Gifted Learning Advisory Committee

Do you have professional and/or parental experience with gifted learners?  Are you interested in how gifted and talented students learn and interact?  We are seeking three parents or guardians (two elementary and one secondary) in addressing the needs of gifted children.

The committee will support the following goals:

  1. Assess the strengths and needs of what we currently consider to be a gifted program.
  2. Make teaching and learning for our gifted students even better through better understanding their individual needs, including social-emotional needs.
  3. Increase opportunities within and outside the school day for authentic learning experiences with a focus on active learning.

Garden City Public Schools maintains advisory committees to facilitate best practices and strategic program development. The Gifted Learning Advisory Committee will consist of parents/guardians and Garden City educators. The committee will serve the district in an advisory role on matters related to instruction for gifted and talented students, the overall enhancement of active learning, and strategic planning.

Volunteers will participate in one preliminary meeting in June 2021 and four 90-minute evening meetings during the 2021-2022 school year.

If you are interested in applying to the Gifted Learning Advisory Committee, please email a résumé and letter of application by June 15, 2021 to cannonet@gcufsd.net
