• Dear Garden City Middle School Community,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write to you as the new Interim Principal of Garden City Middle School.  I am privileged and honored to have been granted the opportunity to lead this distinguished school.  I grew up in New York City before relocating to Long Island approximately twelve years ago.  My career spans approximately twenty-three years and has taken me on many journeys and a wide geographical spectrum.  The opportunity to lead Garden City Middle School is one that piqued my interest from the very beginning.

I am honored and humbled to become part of the Garden City Middle School family and to contribute my love and passion for my work to our students, staff and community.  My greatest accomplishment is being a father of two wonderful children.  In fact, my son is entering 8th grade in September, so we are in this together as middle school parents. My daughter is entering her sophomore year of high school. They continue to make both of their parents proud with their blend of academic and philanthropic excellence.

I believe it is my calling to give back and continue to build upon the wonderful work presently happening at Garden City Middle School.  It is my vision to continue to build a warm, inviting school climate where children become lifelong learners who grow into responsible citizens.  I have no doubt that with the dedication of this fine staff, combined with parent support, central administration, and our Board of Education, our students will achieve to their highest levels. My goal is for children to enter Garden City Middle School to learn, and in turn, go forth and take that knowledge to serve their communities and the world.  As the old African proverb saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.”  That is why you are so important to us.

As we look ahead, we will be taking important steps to further improve student achievement at Garden City Middle School in all phases of their development including their social, emotional and academic well being. I have a strong background in all aspects of curriculum development and professional development and I’m always looking to expand and deepen learning opportunities for our most precious commodity – our students!  In addition, the home-school connection is one that I value and work tirelessly to invest in.  Well-informed parents are a powerful force for improving schools.

In closing, you will quickly realize my passion and energy for my job.  I truly love what I do!  Rest assured, your children are in good hands and will always be my first priority.  Every decision I make will take into account the best interests of the children – just like I would do for my own “middle schooler” at home.  I have always been and will continue to be a hands-on leader.  In similar fashion to my past leadership roles, I plan on being a visible leader and will see you at many school and community events.  I look forward to working closely with you and building a strong partnership.  I also welcome the opportunity to meet all of you and your children in the coming weeks and months.  In the meantime, please enjoy the summer!
