WELCOME TO THE DRATCH/ROBERTSFIFTH GRADE CLASSIT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT YEAR!Welcome Fifth Graders!
Welcome fifth graders to the 2014-2015 school year. Mrs. Dratch & Mrs.Roberts are so excited to meet each and every one of you! We’re anticipating a great year ahead and we hope you are too. In our class this year, you are going to participate in some different and exciting activities. For example, our F.O.C.U.S. Program includes many educational as well as fun activities. In September we’ll have the F.O.C.U.S. kick-off where we’ll meet our Stratford friends and share a day of fun and games. Soon after, we’ll cruise the Great South Bay on our Marine Biology trip. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to catch a fish! We’ll also be taking trips to Jones Beach where we’ll explore the wild life on Long Island’s south shore. At the DNA lab, we’ll use our critical thinking skills to analyze DNA cells to solve puzzling mysteries. Not only will you be a detective this year, but you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in the Little Doctor’s Program (a service to our community). Later this year, we’ll role play as lawyers and justices in our “We the People” program where we’ll debate a fictional Supreme Court case. In addition, we will take a trip to the Metropolitan Opera House and perform an opera at Stewart School. Along with these fun and exciting activities, we’ll be working hard, preparing to enter Middle School. We’ll be developing our critical thinking skills, enhancing our writing and reading skills and learn many new topics. We’re looking forward to a great year!
