Greetings Garden City Middle School Trojans!
I hope this outreach finds you well and enjoying perhaps the most well-deserved summer vacation in recorded history!
It is such a pleasure to welcome you to the Garden City Middle School homepage, a site where you can find all sorts of important information regarding scheduling, events, extra-curricular activities, as well as the best ways for you and your families to connect with the team here at school.
My name is Matthew Samuelson and I am thrilled to be your principal. It is my deepest honor to be a part of this family and to get to know you and yours. I hope you’ll find a moment to come by, introduce yourself and share with me a bit about yourself and your family and what you love most about this community.
Briefly, I’ll share that I have been an educator for the better part of the last 20 years. I’m a middle school guy at heart and spent the majority of those years teaching middle school English in New Rochelle. From there, I became the assistant principal in Irvington, NY. What I learned from these two roles is that, more than anything else, it is the connections we make with students, families and our colleagues that make for the best learning experiences for all. Please know that while it may take a moment or two for me to get to know all of you, it is my unwavering goal to get to know you and your family so that I can help to make sure that each student gets the incredible experience to which he or she is entitled.
I’ll tell you what I know...this community is unbelievable! The team here is totally focused on one thing—creating a learning environment that is tailored and aimed at pushing each of us to achieve our goals. Our staff is gearing up for a great fall while enjoying a thoroughly deserved summer break. I’m so pumped to get started!
When we move into August, you’re going to start to receive more specific information from us about school in September. You’ll get updates about supply lists, class schedules and more information about how you can get involved in athletics and other extracurricular activities. We hope you’ll take advantage of the information and the relaxed pace of summer to get yourself ready for what we know is going to be an amazing opening to the school year.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or if you just want to connect, I hope you’ll reach out to me so that we can get to know each other a bit. I’m most easily reached at my email address and look forward to hearing from you!
Most sincerely,
Matthew Samuelson
