Course Description

  • Students progress through a curriculum that includes basics of proper vocal technique, tone production, sight-singing, and music literacy while preparing music of a wide variety of styles for performances. This literature will not only develop their musical knowledge, but will also introduce them to different cultures and foreign languages. The instructional program requires students to participate in both the daily full rehearsals and smaller lesson groups which are scheduled periodically on a rotating basis. Attendance is mandatory at specified concerts as well as dress rehearsals.

Students must abide by the NYSSMA regulation that requires all students who achieve and accept All-State honors to participate in their local All-County festival.
