The Garden City School District was recently notified of the revisions to Commissioner’s Regulation 136.3 that became effective July 1, 2018. The change effectively revises grade levels for physicals and mandated screenings. Therefore, any child entering school for the first time, or entering kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th grades must have a physical examination within 12 months of school entrance. Any physical performed by a New York State physician since September 3, 2018 will be considered current. New York State is in process of revising the Sate Mandated Health Certificate prescribed by the Commissioner to provide consistency across the state. In the interim, the Garden City physical form can be found on the District’s and school’s websites. All schools throughout the district, will accept any physical examination form from students for the 2019-2020 school year, regardless of the form used.
